History 1

Maike Claußnitzer, @Ardeija, asked a great question yesterday about using history, which started me thinking about sharing history with the reader.

Yes, I avoid info dumps, and I share only what’s needed.

But, HOW?

I’m going to add daily to a thread on this topic because I realize there are many ways I pull the distant past into the present.

Like on the map shown.

Be everwell.

NEW EPISODE: Jim's back with a book review, this time the long awaited fantasy Kings of the Wyld. Could it really be as good as people claim? As entertaining? Time to find out! https://youtu.be/orF3CSCN1bU

This is a note of thanks to my amazing readers, because I'm planning to start writing the 3rd Lady & Lord Riven novella (A Waltz of Sinister Import) on Monday, I just looked at my online dashboards, and I cannot even tell you how inspiring it feels to see hundreds of preorders already! 😍

Ooh, I absolutely loved my early copy of Isabel Sterling's With All My Haunted Heart (such a fun, ghost-y sapphic romance!), and if you're in the US and have Netgalley access, you can grab it as a "Read Now" book for the next 48 hours! https://www.netgalley.com/catalog/book/796131

3/6: "If you have several stories, which one should a new reader start with?"

As my individual books are more or less self-contained, you can start wherever you like. However, it might make sense to read "Tricontium" first, as this is where certain major characters are first introduced. And it also contains a case of pumpkin theft - if that isn't a good reason for jumping right in, nothing is, hm? 🎃

3/6 If you have several stories, which one should a new reader start with?

Humor fantasy: Book 1 of the "Hilda the Wicked Witch" series (28 books so far)

Scifi Alien Encounters: "Wanted: hero"

Historic time travel: ¨The Magic of the Bull"

Scifi time travel: "From Time to Time".

I think that covers the start. I have 'a few more' books out.
