Stones on stones on stories on stones

Kathleen Jamie is one of my favourite writers. A poet and essayist, she writes with a soft style but manages to work in very large ideas. This short book is a nice entanglement of her poems and her essays. It is a reflection on her growing older, and looking at how (climate) protests have evolved through the eyes of her children.
There are many moments of beauty, as with every Kathleen Jamie book. Some of her stories would have been better with some more reflection – they were clearly written when times were harder for the author – but there are countless precious moments that she includes that, like all of her writing, seem to somehow capture a whole world in a tiny moment at a coast or city in Scotland.
