I enjoyed listening to this on audio so much but I agree with other reviewers. The ending was too rushed and unless the author is gearing up for a sequel (and I hope she is) too much was left unresolved.
I often read books set in other countries and times to learn more about them and this book delivered. I enjoyed the twin timelines and learning about China in the 70s/80s and 00s. The choice of using Chinese, American and biracial main characters was a good one as it allowed the author to easily deliver commentary on race, foreigners and class in China.
Once again, I'm super pleased to have Libby and to be able to enjoy books like this for free thanks to my local library.
