To be honest, I was expecting something really horrible. In my mind, nothing could come even close to the original manga/anime series. While I still think that, this book is worthy of bearing the "Death Note" name. However, I imagined a crime that was on a much larger scale. It seemed so simple and just too easy for L to solve the case. It was like he didn't even need Naomi's help. However, the book was still a great read. Some of the deductions were completely out there and the names were downright ridiculous but it was still enjoyable. Also, if the book wasn't as pretty I probably would not have bothered to read it. Though I'm glad I did.
