The full title of the book is The Profound Instructions on the Definitive Meaning, Mahamudra, Connate Union: The Radiant Activity of the Essence of the Ocean of Definitive Meaning. It is a revered text in the Kagyu tradition, which had until now been taught to mahamudra students but not fully translated into English. The book is graced by a forward from H. H. Karmapa Ugyen Trinley Dorje; an open letter by H. E. Tai Situ Rinpoche; an extensive and ground-breaking introduction on mahamudra by the Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche; a translator's preface; three appendices; three glossaries; endnotes; and two indices.
The publication of the English translation is a product of some six years of work of Nitartha under the direction of Khenchen Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche and The Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche, who worked closely with Elizabeth Callahan to translate the book.
