Queer people have always been here. Younger people (even younger queer people, like myself) sometimes lacks the imagination of what life for queer people was like before their time, and especially for queer identities that aren't represented by a letter in the LGBT acronym. All My Mother's Lovers was a good reminder of this.
The twist paid off well in the end, and I thoroughly enjoyed the "mystery" of it all. I devoured this book in a little over a day. I do recommend it, if you can stomach a main character who is a little self-absorbed but (in my opinion), well-intentioned.
