In his number one bestseller, The Perfect Storm, Sebastian Junger describes Linda Greenlaw as "one of the best sea captains, period, on the East Coast." Now Greenlaw tells her own riveting story of a thirty-day swordfishing voyage aboard one of the best-outfitted boats on the East Coast, complete with danger, humor, and characters so colorful they seem to have been ripped from the pages of Moby Dick

Review of 'The Hungry Ocean' on 'Goodreads'

A worthy addition to the modern sea tales of New England. Very readable, and with a couple of interesting hooks and additions to what a larger world knows as "The Perfect Storm." In particular, we learn the real story of the death of "Ben Pulley," mentioned in the beginning of "The Perfect Storm" film.

Of course we all know what happened to the "Andrea Gail" crew, but what happened to everyone else? Well, thanks to her Captain, we know can know what happened to "Andrea Gail's" sister ship, the "Hannah Boden," how it affected that crew, and what happened to their (in)famous boss, Bob Brown.

The fact that there are no deaths at sea on this voyage doesn't make it at all less interesting.
