mirihawk reviewed Little Bookshop of Murder by Maggie Blackburn
Review of 'Little Bookshop of Murder' on 'Goodreads'
2 stars
This book doesn't live up to its potential. All sorts of elements of this book and its setting should have been delightful, and yet were not.
Not only was the killer obvious, but the main character was pompous and snobby, and too much in her own head. Too much of this book is about her thoughts. There are other ways to communicate those ideas, but this author didn't take advantage of them.
The therapy sessions via phone were also very triggering, being unprofessional as heck.
In addition, there were a number of threads that were never quite woven into the story, but left hanging. Never mind the paternity issue, there was the ex issue, the spider phobia issue... many promising leads, but not a full story.
