The Naked God is a science fiction novel by British writer Peter F. Hamilton, the third book in The Night's Dawn Trilogy, following on from The Reality Dysfunction and The Neutronium Alchemist. It was published in the United Kingdom by Macmillan Publishers on 8 October 1999. This was the first novel by Hamilton to be published in hardcover in the United States, on 22 October 1999. As with the first two volumes, the US paperback was split into two volumes, entitled Flight and Faith, published in November and December 2000. In February 2009 Orbit Books issued the first one-volume paperback edition of the novel in the US. Even by the standards of the first two books, The Naked God is an extremely large volume. Although the final novel so far in the Night's Dawn Universe (a 'guidebook' to the setting, The Confederation Handbook, was later published), Hamilton has occasionally hinted at returning to the setting in future books in the form of a sequel series set up to 500 years after the events in the trilogy.

Voilà ce que j'en avais dit en 2006

Et voici le retour de Joshua Calvert, de Quinn Dexter et de tous leurs
amis, possédés ou non.
Et dans ce troisième tome, après les effrayantes révélations du début, la lente descente aux enfers de Consolidation, les non-possédés envisagent la possibilité de résister à leurs ennemis déja morts. Bien sûr, comme Hamilton est très doué, il sait trouver les différents angles d'approche qui peuvent nous intéresser, de la guerre de reconquête aux proportions insensées à la lutte intime entreprise par Louise Kavannagh. Sans oublier, bien sûr, la mission du héros de service...
Pour être franc, ce sixième tome en poche fait du bien. Parce que, pour formidable qu'il soit, ce monstre de roman n'en est pas moins glauque. Et du glauque, on en a mangé, en déja 2000 pages (à peu près). Alors, que les "gentils" reprennent lentement le dessus, ça …

Ca n'aidera bien sûr pas le roman à se terminer rapidement, c'est sûr, et on aura encore droit à notre lot de batailles spatiales et terrestres, de dégats collatéraux ou non.
Et bien je vais vous dire ... tant mieux, parce que c'est vraiment
rudement bien.

Donc, tout ça, c'est une préparation intéressante à la conclusion épique qui se prépare. Hélas, au bout d'un moment, même les tomes de 500 pages ne font plus d'effet quand ils s'enchaînent par paquets comme ça.
