Actress Caidence Harris is living her dreams after landing a leading role among the star-studded, veteran cast of 9th Precinct, a hot new police drama shot on location in glitzy LA. Her sometimes-costar Robyn Ward is magnetic, glamorous, and devastatingly beautiful, the quintessential A-List celebrity on the fast-track to super-stardom. When the two meet on the set of 9th Precinct, Caid is instantly infatuated but settles for friendship, positive that Robyn is both unavailable and uninterested. Soon Caid sees that all is not as it appears, but can she take a chance and risk her heart when the outcome is so uncertain?

This book is really engaging, and I found myself not wanting to put it down every time I had to. I wanted there to be more at the end as well, but the author hasn’t ever written anything again.

The characters are distinctive (though both are skinny, Amazonian height, and conventionally beautiful since they’re actresses). Caid is wholesome and kind, while Robyn is a bit standoffish and honestly pretty defensive/dismissive for most of the book. She has her reasons for this, but I found myself counting down the end of the book in anticipation for her redemption arc.

4.75 stars. I really enjoyed it and would probably read it again at some point because the first 80% of the book was excellent, but the ending left me feeling a bit unresolved… maybe if there had been an epilogue?

With this book read, I am officially done with Hollywood lesfic stories for a while. It seems to be a beloved trope, and I get it a bit. Subtext in so many TV shows, etc. so why not portray TV actresses falling in love and having wild sex? But after the third of such books within two months, I am ready for a different take.

Anyhow! Rambling aside, it's a well-written love story from first perspective. Our protagonist is Caidence Harris, an actress on the TV show 9th Precinct, who's into women but hasn't come out yet. Lo and behold, the sexy Robyn does a crossover from her own TV show, and the two of them have sizzling chemistry. But Robyn is a careful of relationships, and far more in the limelight than Caidence is, as she has a high profile relationship with a famous tennis player.

Stuff happens, ladies …
